Who the heck is this crazy scientist?
Hello! My name is Abigail—Ms. Abigail to my younger students. I completed my undergraduate studies at Lenoir-Rhyne University, where I spent five years exploring the sciences, including a year studying medical biology abroad in the Czech Republic. I have always had a strong passion for nature and all things science-related, and that passion continues to guide both my teaching and personal interests.
As a student, I navigated my academic journey while managing the challenges of ADHD. Over time, I learned not to work against my brain, but with it. That ongoing, twenty-year process of experimentation, adaptation, and growth has shaped who I am today—someone equipped with a wide range of learning tools, study methods, and problem-solving strategies.
Teaching first began as a way for me to better understand the material myself, but it quickly became something much more. Experiencing both sides of the learning process—being a student and an instructor—has given me meaningful insight into how different students think, process information, and engage with academic content. I take pride in tailoring lessons to each student’s unique learning style, helping them find approaches that feel natural, encouraging, and empowering.
My goal is to provide a supportive, engaging learning environment where students can build confidence, develop effective strategies, and truly enjoy the process of learning.
